Learning Journey

Autumn Term 2019

Our first term in school is done! Nursery have settled in so well after a momentous start to the school year! We have made lots of new friends, had loads of new experiences and learnt a huge amount. Each and every child has made tremendous progress in all areas and all the staff are so proud!

Nursery are so delighted with their growth in number this term – we are great number detectives, especially with numbers to 5 and we are so excited to learn all about numbers to 10 next term. We have also enjoyed playing with the sounds around us, recreating them, describing them and coming up with our own.

Our creative table is always buzzing with activity. We love to explore colour and material to create art that captures our creativity and new knowledge. Thank you Esther for teaching us new techniques!

Another way we get our creativity out is through music and dancing. We dance and sing every day in Nursery and we just keep getting better and more confident. Ask us about ‘Banana Banana Meatball’ – we’re great at that one. We really enjoy our lessons with Miss Savournin and we will miss her!

It’s been so much fun learning about the world around us and exploring what makes people so unique. One of our favourite ways to explore different cultures, traditions and topics is through food! We’ve used our senses a lot this term and really expanded our taste buds. Cooking is so exciting for us and we get to do it ourselves – the creations are not always perfect but getting to discover new tastes and experiences is the best part.

In the second half of the term we were visited by some guests who were having some trouble – but don’t worry we stepped in to help! Incy Wincy Spider was given an umbrella, Humpty Dumpty was given bubble wrap and the Bears were given tasty sandwiches for their picnic (which we helped them eat!).

One of the most exciting days was our trip to learn all about the dinosaurs and Beethoven. We loved getting to interact, sing and dance together. We were also lucky enough to go on another trip to the Pantomime to see ‘The Pixie and the Pudding’. We kept shouting ‘he’s behind you!’ but the person was being really silly and wasn’t listening to us!

Parent reading on Friday mornings is one of our favourite morning activities – up there with our morning dances – thank you to all the parents and carers who have come along!

Finally, we had a super time preparing for the Christmas Concert and Nativity. It was a little scary seeing all the people but our teachers are so proud of us for our confidence.

Thank you to all who have supported our class on our journey. We can’t wait to grow even more next term!
